I am in my penthouse. It is about 8 feet up and is on top of a bookcase. Himself put a nice polar blankie up here and I can keep an eye on everyone in the bed. Sometimes I take a flying leap onto the bed and since I am a big fellow of fourteen pounds it makes quite an impression. I love my penthouse and I spend hours here every day dreaming of spring when I can go back to exploring the Land of Ilu. It isn't easy to get to my private spot but this is how I do it.
Three are three stages on this tree and none are easy for me but Herself says it is good it isn't easy because I need the exercise. This is one.
This is two.
The next one is really hard. I have to pull myself up onto the wooden beam that runs across the ceiling.
But I can do it.
I take a rest when I get up here.
Then it's just a stroll across the beam and I can hop into my private place ( not shown here for privacy reasons, however the first photo is of me in my penthouse).

Silas!!! Your penthouse is sooooo cool!! You are a very good climber and I bet you are a good jumper too. Buddy is a great jumper but Finny is not. We don't know why. I bet your beans were surprised the first time they saw you in your penthouse hide-away.

Wow, Silas, you are a good climber. I don't think a fat kitty like me could get up to your penthouse. BTW, my mum thinks you are very cute.
My beans are very hip to my deep emotional needs so they built my penthouse. I am kind of a shy guy so I like a place where I can be with everybody but still private, you know what I mean?
My buddy Fergus taught me how to climb. He could climb anything! But then, he was a skinny guy (he only weighed eight pounds). I remember one time I climbed a tree and it got scary so I yelled and Ferg came and talked me down. Whew!

Oh, Silas. That's a wonderful story of Fergus coaching you along on a fun expedition. We all should be treated by someone like that in our lives, teaching us to go out on a limb and then encouraging us on the safest way home.

We look so much alike, but I'm not quite 14 lb - more like 11 or 12. I love the penthouse idea and spend lots of time on the highest perch of our cat tree. It's not quite as good as yours, but I like it.
